About
French
AMF French is run by me, Alison Fisher BA Hons PGCE and came into being in 1993 in response to local demand for private French tutoring to improve exam grades, and also for adults who wanted private tuition rather than local authority classes. Students come from a wide area, using public transport (train and bus), car or on foot. I have had students from all over the North-East. For a year now AMF French has been developing distance-learning teaching in response to demand. The popular GCSE course is being developed as a self-study course as well as tutor-led, and new for 2006 there is a short translation cum current affairs course being piloted. The 4-lesson longer level 3 course on Family and Health matters is now up and running and also proving popular with more advanced students.
I am a qualified French teacher with a French degree BA Hons from Nottingham University. I have been teaching French most of my adult life to both adults and children. For parents of minors, please see Health and Safety link.
I also work as a freelance tutor, and have had work published for A level and GCSE French courses. I am an experienced French examiner at both GCSE (OCR) and A level (Edexcel).
For students who want to learn French for Business, I am piloting this year a Level 1CBLC Business Course written by the foremost business French network in the country, Black Country Pathfinder 14-19 Networks for Excellence.
I am interested in developing French programmes for Adults. In the past I have written my own course 'Real French', accredited by the Open College Network North East.
If any Adults feel that these courses do not cater for their needs, I can write tailor-made new courses.
Most of all, I enjoy teaching students. Come and try a few lessons!
