GCSE /level 2 course

  Return to main page

GCSE and QCA level 2 are the same standard, and this course is suitable for either qualifcation.  It has lessons and assessments covering all four Units of the GCSE course, and is written entirely by Alison Fisher, covering the syllabus in a fun and interactive way, at the same time covering the grammar in depth. It is not designed for complete beginners, but for those who wish to continue French at intermediate level, and is suitable for a wide range of students. It is written particularly with the needs of both adult and young students in mind, unlike most GCSE courses which are aimed at one or the other. The course is designed for those who do not wish to take the exam, but wish to study at this level, as well as those wishing to enter GCSE1.

1 Please note AMF French does not take any responsibility for entering students for GCSE exams. The service offered is purely tutorial and educational.

How does it work?

There are 30 lessons in all covering the syllabus, divided into 6 modules of 5 lessons each. At the end of each module there is a TMA (Tutor Marked Assignment), which assesses the module in the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. The speaking and listening assessment are done over the phone with the tutor, or face-to-face for one-to-one students.

The whole course: suitable for those intending to do the GCSE exam.

A short course (in blocks of 5 lessons): suitable for those who want to work at level 2/ GCSE level but do not wish to take an exam. You can build these gradually, or stop when you want to. Doing blocks like this is a good way for those who have an 'old' O level or GCSE and wish to refresh their memories before undertaking more advanced work.

Note for distance-learners

Distance-learners are sent the lessons over the email or by post on receipt of payment. Then you make an appointment for an oral phone tuition session with the tutor, at a time suitable for you. You are charged only for the 30 minute lesson on the phone. Usually students work at the rate of 1 lesson per 1/2 hour call, so a 5 lesson module will involve 5 x 30 minute calls.

For phone tutorial rates, which are very reasonable, please see AMF French Prices
