New! Distance-learning French current affairs/ translation course

Taster lesson

Sarkozy's campaigning? How is climate change affecting the French? Is their world-renowned cuisine under threat from globalisation? This course is for students of French interested in finding out what's going on 'outre-Manche' (on the other side of the Channel) whilst honing up their translation skills.

Start anytime. The course is roughly a term's work, and consists of 5 lessons. They are not too long and each one features a current affairs story in France. The lessons include vocabulary and grammar notes, questions on the story, an opportunity to do internet research and a translation at the end based on the story. There are internet video links to follow to practise listening skills too.

Students of the course send me work over the email and I give feedback plus model answers. An ideal opportunity for you to expand your knowledge of French civilisation. Some students opt for 1/2 hour oral discussion of the topic over the phone, as well as or instead of, the written work.

The 'level' is post-GCSE, but no formal qualification is required.

>Cost: £9.00 per lesson, or £40.00 for 5 lessons, including marking of your work and feedback.

A course of 5 x 1/2 oral sessions on the themes of the lessons is available at the same rates.

You can pay by cheque, or use Paypal.  Please email or phone for details.
